Community Arts: Piano & Poetry

In October 2025, Enspire Arts launched our new Community Arts Series with a special Piano & Poetry evening, featuring pianist Josiah Austin and poet Scott Poole. This event marked the beginning of a new way for Enspire Arts to bring people together through shared creative experiences.

A trademark of every Enspire Arts event is the blending of art forms, along with meaningful opportunities for audience participation. Josiah and Scott opened the evening by sharing a mix of original piano compositions and poetry. As the night unfolded, it was inspiring to witness how the music and poetry naturally intertwined—ideas, emotions, and themes weaving together into a shared artistic conversation.

During the second half of the evening, attendees were invited to take part in a collaborative poetry experience. Everyone began with the same opening line—“A Walk in the Woods…”—and the poems were passed around the table, with each person adding a new line. The process was simple, playful, and deeply connecting.

The evening concluded with an open mic reading of all the poems. We were moved by the range of emotions expressed—beautiful, funny, thoughtful, and heartfelt moments that reminded us of the power of creativity to bring people together. In just a short time, a room full of individuals became a connected community.
